Abigail Tyson - News

Abigail had her first day at work today with Dad. She caused a bit of a disruption in his office when we visited so that her proud Dad could show her off.
The first 9 weeks
Abigail was born on 24/4 at the Royal Hospital for Women in Randwick. She weighed 3.125 kg. What a superb place with fantastic staff. She arrived in the world at 1:50pm and was described as "stunned at birth" - well wouldn't you be!! Poor thing. She went to the nursery for observation for a few hours where she amazed everyone with her beautiful big eyes. She was brought back to mom and immediately did what she does best - had a good drink on the breast.

We came home two days later on early discharge which meant we had the midwives come to visit us at home for a week. What a great service, a midwife came every second day to make sure we were doing OK and answer any questions and generally help us. Abi settled in to life at home very easily, eating loads and sleeping well! Mom and Dad have been spoilt as she only wakes for a feed once of twice a night and has been doing this from early on. At 6pm she has "bare bum' time, bath and baby massage, a good feed and to bed by 7pm!! She loves her bath and kicks like a little frog.

She has already been on a few overnight trips. The first one when she was about 4 weeks old to her "guard" parents, Harvey and Emma, in Hornsby. For lack of anything else we put her mattress in their magazine basket where she had a comfy nights sleep and did not mind her different environment. She then spent a night with mom keeping Christine and Grace company in Cammeray. She has been getting a bit of breast milk in a bottle to get her used to the bottle. But she refuses to take it from mom - she does not see why her milk should come from a bottle when the boobs are so close by!

Her Granny Lynda came to visit for a few weeks from the UK and doted on little Abi.  At 8 weeks we had the horrible experience of her necessay immunisations which consisted of 3 (I kid you not) injections, and she displayed her displeasure very loudly making mom cry. However, the good old milk supply calmed her down and the horrid needles were quickly forgotten. We had a weigh in at the same time and she was 4.7 kg!!  We spent her 9th weekend in Mittagong at Howard's Lane  Vineyard with Tony and Mary. We have been getting smiles from our happy little girl since about 5 weeks but they are getting more and more frequent and lots when she sees mom and dad, especially when we go and get her out of her cot.
